MEINL Sonic Energy 18" Wind Gong Kun

MEINL Sonic Energy 18" Wind Gong Kun – An earth-centered instrument with a powerful presence

The MEINL Sonic Energy 18" Wind Gong Kun combines powerful sound with spiritual symbolism and high-quality craftsmanship. Handcrafted in China using traditional methods, this wind gong is made from a specially tuned bronze alloy known for its warm tone and long-lasting resonance. Its nearly flat design—typical of Feng or Sun gongs—allows the gong to produce a broad sound spectrum with deep fundamental tones and vibrant overtones.

With a diameter of 18 inches (45 cm), this gong offers an impressive richness of sound, making it suitable for meditative sound spaces as well as therapeutic applications and group sound work. When struck gently, a grounding, soothing bass tone dominates—when played more intensely, shimmering, wave-like overtones unfold, filling the room with dynamic energy. The included mallet, tuned specifically to the gong, and a practical gong cover round out the set.

Kun – Symbol of Earth, Femininity, and Receptivity

In Chinese philosophy, the term Kun represents the principle of Earth and the feminine—symbolizing receptivity, care, nourishment, and constancy. Kun is one of the eight trigrams of the I Ching and is considered a symbol of the passive yet supportive element of the universe. This spiritual concept finds expression in the sound of the gong: soft, deep, and balancing—an acoustic manifestation of stability and inner peace.

The MEINL Sonic Energy Wind Gong Kun is therefore particularly well-suited for grounding exercises, chakra work, meditative journeys, or spiritual ceremonies. Its sonic connection to this symbolism makes it a valuable tool for conscious sound work with deep energetic resonance.

Traditional craftsmanship for excellent sound quality

Every MEINL Sonic Energy wind gong is meticulously handcrafted by experienced gong smiths. The use of a special bronze alloy ensures a full, organic tone with powerful resonance and a long sustain. The 18-inch gong strikes an ideal balance between a manageable size and an intense sonic impact—perfect for use in yoga studios, sound healing centers, or spiritual group events.

Thanks to the included gong case, the instrument can be safely transported and stored. The included mallet is precisely matched to the gong’s material properties and size, allowing you to achieve both gentle and powerful sound dynamics with ease.
